Guardiola absence
Pep Guardiola will miss at least two Manchester City matches after undergoing emergency surgery on a longstanding back problem.
The Catalan flew out to Barcelona for a successful operation after suffering from severe back pain recently, and will spend a few weeks recovering there before returning after the international break. That means that for the Sheffield United and Fulham matches at least, assistant Juanma Lillo will take control of the team.
Lillo only returned to the club recently along with his assistant, having left in 2022 for a head coach role in Qatar. The popular assistant will take charge for the next few weeks, along with fellow coach Carlos Vicens and goalkeeping coach Xabi Mancisidor.

City have had a strong start to their campaign. Despite defeat on penalties to Arsenal in the Community Shield, they have won their first two Premier League games and also claimed the Super Cup by beating Sevilla in a shootout after a 1-1 draw.

Doku boost
Jeremy Doku is expected to sign for Manchester City in time to be included for their trip to Sheffield United.
City have agreed a £55.5m fee for 21-year-old winger Doku, who will have a medical on Wednesday ahead of completing his move to the club. As long as all goes to plan, Doku will sign this week in time for the Premier League registration deadline to enable him to feature on Sunday.
