ITV viewers have been left "in bits" following an emotional episode of Paul O'Grady's Great Elephant Adventures on Sunday night. It marked the last time the late star will appear on television.
The much-loved Lily Savage icon sadly died in March last year from sudden cardiac arrhythmia, aged 67. Fans became emotional as they saw him give his very last piece to camera in the programme which aired on Sunday, April 7.
Animal-lover Paul paid a visit to Thailand's biggest wildlife hospital where he communicated with elephants in Laos for the final series. Taking to social media, viewers admitted they "still can't believe" the comedian is no longer with us, reports OK!
"Just 28 minutes (ads excluded) left of the last piece to camera Paul made and I'm here for every minute," one wrote on Twitter another person said: "I still can't believe he's not here. What a wonderful man he was.
Someone else added: "Even the Elephants knew just how special Paul was and the empathy he had for animals and it's a special memory that, thankfully, they'll never forget." A fourth said: "Really in bits watching the end and knowing we won't get another series."
Other viewers admitted they were in floods of tears, with one writing: "A sobbing mess right now."
Paul had visited elephant rescue centres across Thailand and Laos in the two-part documentary for ITV as he attempted to raise awareness and do what he could for the plummeting elephant population.
