We're so used to seeing Nicole Scherzinger with long hair that watching her pop up on our Instagram feed with a short new 'shag' cut was a bit of a jump scare. However, if you had any doubts that the star could pull off a shorter 'do, you won't after seeing the results of her trip to the hair salon. Posing for snaps on her hair stylist Dimitris Giannetos' grid, the former Pussycat Dolls singer looks red (or wet) hot with a tousled mullet-like style that falls just below her shoulders.
"Nicole - Fresh cut for @nicolescherzinger in a wet shag by yours truly," Dimitris captions the series of stunning photos. "Omg yes … something fresh and different. Not that same old long hair everyone has," replies one fan in the comment section.
"Looking very good in this wet look," says a second, while a third adds: "Looks like a younger Naomi Campbell - love the haircut!" A fourth observes: "She'll have extensions in tomorrow".That follower isn't exactly wrong. Nicole does have a tendency to swap hairstyles like we'd swap pairs of socks. The newly-engaged singer mostly turns to wigs to help her achieve the big transformations, but since her hairstylist used a scissor emoji in his Instagram caption, we wonder if this shag is a more permanent look for Nicole. Mullets and shags have been having a huge resurgence for well over a year now.
In fact, the craze started when Squid Games hit Netflix and we all developed a big girl crush on actress HoYeon Jung and her own mullet. Since then, celebs like Miley Cyrus and Camila Cabello have been doing their own work to make the 80s style modern and flattering. Possibly our favourite mullet entry from the past year comes from Love Island star Indiyah Polack, who surprised her fans with the makeover
