Marta Balaga Nicolas Cage will pick up this year’s Cheval Noir Career Achievement Award at Fantasia. “He is one of the most individualistic and captivating screen presences in the last 40 years. Beyond his unique charisma, the kinds of atypical characters he’s been drawn to and what he can bring to them is so special and rare,” artistic director Mitch Davis told Variety. “Audiences lose their minds when he goes to these energetically extreme places: ‘Vampire’s Kiss’ was my first experience with that and I was absolutely floored. But they are also transfixed by the quiet, textured qualities he brings to more somber characters. He’s a one-of-a-kind treasure in American film.”

Jaden Thompson Netflix has just released the official trailer for live-action version of “One Piece,” about a group of young pirates. Set to be released August 31, the show is an adaptation of the beloved manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda. The story follows a boy named Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) who can stretch his body like rubber and travels with a group of friends named the Straw Hat Pirates in search of a treasure known as One Piece, which would make him Pirate King. The manga has also been adapted into a long running anime series, making “One Piece” a story that already has a dedicated following. The new trailer features fast paced action sequences, lighthearted humor, and a myriad of fantastical occurrences and dangerous encounters. In one scene, Luffy promises that they will find the One Piece in the Grand Line, “a treacherous stretch of ocean with bigger islands and bigger pirates.”

News of the preliminary investigation was first reported in a bombshell investigative report published by French outlet Mediapart. The investigation cites four women, two of whom addressed a letter to the public prosecutor. The prosecutor’s spokesperson confirmed to Variety that a preliminary investigation was opened on July 5 on charges of alleged sexual assault and rape “after receiving three distinct complaints against Nicolas Bedos.”
