Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series.The trailer was unveiled yesterday (August 16), and comes just a few months ahead of the series’ release, which has now been confirmed for November 17 exclusively via the streaming platform.While the trailer doesn’t give much of the show’s plot away, it features scenes identical to Edgar Wright‘s 2010 live-action film, titled Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
That film starred Michael Cera in the titular role, with supporting performances from Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers. Mark Webber will return as Stephen Stills, alongside Alison Pill as Kim Pine, and Johnny Simmons as Young Neil.Watch the trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off below.First announced last year, Netflix has confirmed that the upcoming anime series will see Edgar Wright returning to executive produce, with series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley writing and animating.The live-action film’s full cast are also returning to voice their respective characters in the series.
The cast boasts the likes of Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Brandon Routh, Keiran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Ellen Wong, Jason Schwartzman, Satya Bhabha and more.In July 2020, the film’s cast reunited over Zoom in a virtual reunion hosted by Wright to celebrate the film’s anniversary and to raise money for the non-profit Water for People.In 2021, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World returned to UK cinemas for a limited theatrical run as part of continued celebrations around the anniversary.Michael Cera most recently starred as Alan in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.

Netflix has released the first trailer for David Fincher’s The Killer starring Michael Fassbender – check out the clip below.Fassbender plays a troubled assassin in the upcoming film, which is based on the French graphic novel by Alexis Nolent. Disney has been going back and raiding its animated library for IP to turn into live-action productions. The folks behind the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ franchise have decided to do it the other way, taking the cast from the beloved live-action film and make an animated adaptation of the source material.

Barbie “was shorter” than he had hoped.The actor, best known for starring in BBC series Gavin & Stacey, made a brief appearance in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie as Sugar Daddy Ken opposite Tom Stourton.Speaking about his cameo role to The Times, Brydon explained that a Sugar Daddy Ken scene was cut from the film.“I recorded two scenes in one day but they used only one, which itself was edited,” Brydon said. “All in all, it was shorter than one might have hoped for.”He added: “However, on the other hand there was a lot of British talent, some of whom were on set for nine months, and their appearances didn’t make the same impact as my one day of work.”Other UK actors in Barbie include Sex Education alumni Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa and Connor Swindells.
