Joe Otterson TV Reporter Mischa Barton will appear in the new season of “Neighbours” coming to Amazon Freevee. Barton will guest star in the upcoming season of the long-running Australian soap opera, which was picked up by Freevee back in November. According to her official character description, Barton will play Reece, “an American new to Erinsborough who’s not quite who she appears to be.” “With ‘Neighbours’ launching on Amazon Freevee in North America, we are beyond excited to have an actor of Mischa’s calibre join us for the beginning of this exciting new chapter,” said executive producer Jason Herbison. “Mischa’s character is dynamic and unpredictable, and will have an instant presence on Ramsay Street. Our loyal viewers are going to love her, locally and abroad.”
“I’m excited to be part of this iconic show’s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia a place I know and love!” Barton added. “I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with.” Barton is best known to American audiences for her role in the hit Fox drama series “The O.C.,” on which she starred for three seasons as well as for the ABC series “Once and Again.” She is also known for her roles in films like “Lawn Dogs” and “The Sixth Sense.” “Neighbours” is produced by Fremantle. Herbison, who has been an executive producer on the series since 2013, will maintain his position on the Freevee version, with Andrew Thompson returning as producer. “Neighbours” kicked off production on its new season on April 17 in Melbourne. The ad-supported streaming service will offer a U.S. version of the long-running British series “Mock The Week,” a half-hour program that combines elements from talk shows. stand-up comedy sessions and improv games and sets two teams of comics against each other in a bid to satirize current news events and popular culture. Noah, who left “The Daily Show” late last year, will executive produce the series, along with Dan Patterson, who helped create “Mock The Week,” which has run in the United Kingdom for more than 15 years.
McKinley Franklin editor Amazon Freevee has ordered a two-season renewal of the Daytime Emmy-winning original series “Judy Justice,” the streaming service announced Monday. Freevee, too, has greenlit “Justice on Trial,” a new “Justice” spinoff created by and featuring Judge Judy Sheindlin. After debuting on Freevee in November 2021, “Judy Justice” has become the No. 1 original program with over 150 million hours watched. The series, too, won the Daytime Emmy in the “Legal/Courtroom program” following its first season. Episodes from Season 2 of “Judy Justice” are streaming now and will release each weekday through June 9. “How shall I describe my feelings about the renewal of ‘Judy Justice’ on Amazon Freevee? Gratifying, certainly. Grateful, of course,” said Judge Sheindlin. “In exploring the continued success of the program, I do believe that people long to see old-fashion justice administered with an even hand. Joe Otterson TV Reporter “Bosch: Legacy” has been renewed for Season 3 at Amazon Freevee ahead of the show’s Season 2 premiere. The announcement was made ahead of Amazon’s NewFront presentation in New York on May 1. The first season of “Bosch: Legacy” debuted on Freevee in May 2022, with Season 2 set to air this fall. Like its predecessor, the Prime Video series “Bosch,” the Freevee series is based on the Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly. “The story of Harry Bosch has evolved over the years, and his journey is far from over,” said LaurenAnderson, head of AVOD Originals, unscripted, and targeted programming at Amazon Studios. “Thisrenewal of ‘Bosch: Legacy’ is a testament to the enduring power of the world Michael Connelly built. Joe Otterson TV Reporter Donald Sutherland is the latest addition to the cast of the Bass Reeves series currently in the works at Paramount+. The show is now officially titled “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” and is now described as an anthology series with future installments to follow other iconic lawmen who have impacted history in subsequent seasons. The logline for the Bass Reeves season states it will “bring the legendary lawman of the wild west to life. Reeves, known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.”
Joe Otterson TV Reporter Jensen Ackles, Danneel Ackles, and their production company Chaos Machine are entering a first-look TV deal at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively. The Ackles and Chaos Machine were previously under a first-look deal at Warner Bros. Television. It was reported in October 2022 that they had extended the WBTV deal for another two years, but they have now exited that deal for Amazon. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the Ackles and WBTV parted ways on good terms and any projects Chaos Machine had in development with their now former studio home remain in the works. The WBTV deal was solely a producing deal, while the Amazon deal covers both acting and producing.

They join previously announced cast member Julie Bowen. The show was originally ordered at Peacock in August 2022.
