A mum says a family trip to Turkey turned into a horror holiday after being told she had a potentially life-threatening condition. Rebecca Payne says she was assured by doctors in the UK she was healthy enough to make the trip abroad with her husband and two children.
She says a doctor in Turkey “took one look” at the then 45-year-old and rushed her to hospital. Rebecca says she was a “perfectly fit and healthy” active mum-of-two before she began experiencing what she thought were headaches.
Ahead of an October half-term holiday with her family in 2019, the pains in Rebecca’s head began to worsen. Now aged 49, Rebecca understands the pain and nausea she was experiencing were caused by a brain tumour - which went undetected for almost two years.

“My mum started menopause when she was 46, so at first, I put it down to that. However, the weekend before we were to go on holiday, I kept getting headaches - which I know weren’t headaches now, but really bad pains in my head. I’m really not a headache person,” she said.
Having been sent home by her boss, Rebecca says she arranged to see a doctor to see what the cause of her sickness was. The doctor examined Rebecca and gave her a blood test, saying she was fine to head to
