To coincide with Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies came together to remember the lives lost over the past year and to listen to stories from one another.
It was a chance to keep the memories alive of the likes of Alice Litman and Corei Hall, as well as Brianna Ghey, who died in Warrington’s Culcheth Linear Park just nine months ago. The 16-year-old trans teen had been known to help a number of trans people safely and legally seek advice and support as they went on their own personal journeys.

Held by Manchester Pride, Trans Creative, Trans Pride Manchester and Sparkle, alongside support from national trans+ charity Not a Phase and Manchester City Council, the vigil on Monday night began in Manchester’s Vimto Gardens before a procession made its way to Sackville Gardens.
There, flowers, candles and messages were all laid within the garden's Beacon of Hope memorial as a sign of respect to the members of the trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming community who are no longer here today. One sign read: "For all of my trans sisters, brothers and others, your flame will never extinguish."
Organisers behind the event said it came at a time where members of the trans community continued to have their identity and existence questioned by others - especially within social media.
