Donna Chambers, 57, has officially registered Kinship Awareness for Young Adults in memory of her daughter, Kaya-Imaani after she tragically died at the age of 18. Kaya, who was an engineering student, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow on May 23, 2023.

Donna told the Record: "We'll never know if a CT or MRI could have saved Kaya, but it might have given us more time with her. I would have liked to have taken her home but due to her sudden diagnosis, she had to start treatment at the hospital straight away.
"It was all so sudden and we didn't get the chance to take her home. Had it been picked up earlier, we could have brought her back on oxygen."
Medics weren't able to distinguish what kind of cancer Kaya had, although it is understood to have started in her liver. The charity in her name will allow families to apply for funding to get private MRI scans when they become concerned about their child's
