Michelle Mone and Doug Barrowman sell £19million townhouse previously listed as frozen asset

Scots businesswoman Michelle Mone and her entrepreneur husband Doug Barrowman have sold their £19million London townhouse despite it previously appearing on a list of frozen assets. The six-bedroom Belgravia property was bought in 2015 for £11million by two companies registered in the British Virgin Islands, according to Land Registry records.
It had been included on a £75million list of assets to be confiscated under the Proceeds of Crime Act (NCA) if the couple are prosecuted as part of the Covid PPE scandal. The pair are being investigated for their role in PPE deals for face masks and gowns worth more than £200million during the pandemic.
But the Mirror reports that the townhouse has been sold after being dropped from the list of ring-fenced assets, along with a £6.8million yacht known as the Lady M.
Baroness Mone has previously complained that she was being treated like Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. She said in December: “It has been an extremely tough year of pain with frozen accounts. Under the Proceeds of Crime Act, I’ve been treated like Pablo Escobar. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?”
She also finally admitted to lying to journalists for years over her role securing contracts for PPE Medpro, a consortium led by Mr Barrowman - and to benefitting from deals that turned £60million in profit. But she told the BBC: “I can’t see what we have done wrong.”
Separately, the Department of Health and Social Care is also suing PPE Medpro for breach of contract after allegedly supplying non-sterile gowns. Baroness Mone is also being probed to see if she broke House of Lords rules by failing to register an interest in the firm.
