Michael Mosley is a diet creator whose weight loss strategies revolve around a low carb Mediterranean style diet and intermittent fasting.
The presenter has authored books about the Fast 800 and 5:2 diet.
On Thursday, he appeared on This Morning on ITV talking about the controversial liquid diet technique after reports emerged that cricketer Shane Warne had been on a liquid diet before suffering fatal heart attack on March 4.
Viewers slammed Mosley for saying he's a fan of liquid diet replacements, but 'not for every meal'.
He claimed that he was able to reverse his type two diabetes 10 years ago by going on a liquid diet, which led to a 10kg weight loss he's kept off.
The former doctor included diet advice during the segment, The Express reported.
His appearance on This Morning was related to liquid diets and how they can be harmful.
The conversation with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby then turned to the types of diets people should be considering if they’re looking for safe rapid weight loss, and how there is one type of food that needs to be eaten in quite high amounts for fat loss.
In terms of nutrition, there is one food group Mosley says you need to be eating high quantities of in order to lose fat.
He explained: "I don't think exercise alone is going to help you lose weight but it improves your mood if nothing else.
"The data suggests if you combine it [diet] with exercise that's a great way [to lose weight].
