Police taught ‘three valuable lessons’ to a man riding the tram in Manchester city centre this morning.
Cops from the city centre division tweeted that they arrested a man at the Cornbrook Metrolink stop. He is now on his way to custody, the tweet posted at 2.22pm this afternoon (March 28) said.
By making the arrest, police say the man has learned ‘three valuable lessons’ — including not to take drugs.

The tweet said: “This gentleman learnt three valuable lessons today:
“1. Don’t smoke heroin,
“2. Don’t smoke heroin on the Metrolink,
“3. Don’t smoke heroin on the Metrolink in front of plain clothes police officers. [Man] arrested and now enroute to custody.”
The arrest is part of Project Servator, which is GMP’s drive to ‘to deter, detect and disrupt a range of criminal activity, including terrorism, while providing a reassuring presence for the public’. It means that officers work with other agencies, like Metrolink officers, to halt crime.
“Our officers will arrive unannounced at various locations,” GMP says of the project. “These patrols could last for different lengths of time and involve varying numbers of officers.
“You'll see, as a minimum, uniform and plain-clothes officers, but we might also include officers from other departments such as dog or horse units or armed officers, depending on our specific requirements. Officers will talk to the public, local businesses and private security staff to let them know what they're doing and remind them to be vigilant, trust their instincts and report any suspicious or unusual behaviour.”
