Matheus Nunes wants to become part of Manchester City history after sealing a move to the Premier League and European champions.
Nunes completed a £53m transfer from Wolves on deadline day to become City's fourth incoming transfer of the summer, adding another midfielder after Ilkay Gundogan's exit and Kevin De Bruyne's long-term injury.
The Portugal international had stopped training at Wolves to force through a move to City, and speaking after arriving at the Etihad, Nunes said the move was a no-brainer as soon as he learned of the interest.
“I’m very happy of course to be here. It’s a dream come true," he said. "I’ve always wanted to play for a big club in England and this year God blessed me with that. I’m very happy and very excited – I can’t wait to get started."

Nunes also cited the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola - who called him the best midfielder in the world after City faced Sporting in 2022 - as another major factor in his move to the Blues.
He said: "There’s a lot of factors. Being the champions is amazing for me to come here. The coach as well. It’s a huge club – it’s the best you can get, the best opportunities, the best structures. There were a lot of factors that influenced my decision to come here. It’s been an easy one – when I first found out they were interested in me I didn’t think twice. I’m very happy to be here.
"[Guardiola] is probably the best in the world for so many years now. I’m going to learn so much from him – I can only see myself improving with him and with all the teammates. It’s a top-quality squad. This is going to be a very good journey.
