Martin Kemp has had a heart-to-heart with his wife Shirlie, telling her they "can't be heartbroken" if their kids decide to have private weddings.
The pop legend, 62, and his wife Shirlie, 61, are parents to radio DJ Roman, 31, and singer Harley Moon, 34. Even though neither of their children are planning to get married right now, Martin and Shirlie chatted about what it would be like when that day comes. Shirlie shared in a recent conversation that she really wants to "be there" for their big days, as reports the Mirror.
But Martin reminded her how they had a very small wedding with no guests in St. Lucia back in 1988. He thinks their kids might want something similar. Shirlie mentioned: "I'm not bothered that they're not married or have children. I think the world is a scary place. But if my kids get married, I want to be there."
Martin then said to her: "I can tell you, you won't be. Roman will do exactly the same thing [as us]. Everything he does, he's looked at, so he'll want to go away. And we can't be heartbroken because we'll have no right to be."
In a chat with Hello! Magazine, Martin also said he's excited about becoming a grandad one day. Roman has talked about having his own family in the future and joked about calling Martin "grandad" as he admitted he hopes his children will get to see their grandparents on TV.
