Goalkeeper Ederson was forced off just 11 minutes into the start of the second half of Manchester City's Premier League heavyweight clash with Liverpool at Anfield through injury.
The Brazilian goalkeeper was guilty of clattering Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez just three minutes after the restart, rushing out to try and beat the Uruguayan to an under-hit back-pass from City defender Nathan Ake. He connected with the former Benfica man with force, resulting in Liverpool earning a penalty.
Alexis Mac Allister stepped up and brought Liverpool level, cancelling out John Stones' first half opener. That was only after Ederson had received treatment from the City medical staff.

He was able to face the penalty but went down again just a few minutes later, clearly suffering as a result of the coming together with Nunez. He was eventually forced off and replaced by Stefan Ortega.
Ederson was surrounded by two club medical staff, a member of St John's Ambulance and Kyle Walker, all of whom were checking on his condition. Strong enough to be able to walk off the pitch, opposed to being carried off on a stretcher, the shot-stopper went straight down the tunnel after being withdrawn.
Prior to his premature exit, the Brazilian was largely untested, being forced into making just one save. His exit meant both City and Liverpool proceeded without their respective first-choice goalkeepers, with Alisson missing out for the hosts from the start through an injury of his own.
Ederson has started all but one of City's 28 Premier League games this season, only previously missing out when the Blues beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1
