Mr Valentine, of Ackers Lane, Carrington, is accused of eight counts of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control that caused injury. Six of the charges relate to the alleged dog attack on the girl.
The other two charges relate to an alleged incident on the same street on December 20, 2022, when a man - aged in his 20s - and his dog were injured. Mr Valentine has also been charged with possession of cannabis.
He appeared in the dock wearing a grey jumper and matching tracksuit bottoms. During the brief hearing, Mr Valentine spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.
District Judge Margaret McCormack adjourned the case until May 4 when Mr Valentine will appear at Minshull Street Crown Court. He was remanded into custody until then.
