THR announced the appointment today, calling it an “augmentation to leadership,” with both Roshan and Moody reporting to Penske Media’s Chief Operating Officer George Grobar. They’ll be based in Los Angeles, with Roshan beginning in his new role on September 25.
Roshan most recently served as Editor-in-Chief at Los Angeles magazine from 2019 until April, steering a major rebrand of the venerable publication. Before that he served in top editorial positions with such publications as New York magazine, Interview and Talk. He launched and edited Radar, TheFix.com and Punch!
Jay Penske, the founder, Chairman and CEO of Penske Media (which also owns Deadline), said in a statement: “Over the last few years, Nekesa has led this extraordinary team through a pandemic and raised the editorial bar with a renewed emphasis on investigative reporting and features. Nekesa’s journalistic instincts coupled with Maer’s undeniable talent for storytelling and innovation make them a powerful duo. I look forward to watching them continue to build and evolve The Hollywood Reporter for the future.”
Roshan moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to run Awesome Projects, an editorial and creative consultancy that served clients from Telepictures to Snapchat. Since 2016, he also served as editor of FourTwoNine, a California-based national men’s magazine and website.
