Stockport, which this year celebrates being Greater Manchester’s town of culture, was most recently used as a primary location for sitcom The Power of Parker. Currently airing on the BBC, the show - starring Conleth Hill, Rosie Cavaliero, and Sian Gibson - is set in the borough and follows a self-made man with a chain of electrical stores to his name who struggles to keep his head above water as the 1980s turn into the 1990s.
Other TV shows which have been filmed in Stockport included Sherwood, Inside No. 9, The Bay, Years and Years, COBRA, Brassic and Wolfe. The latest Harlan Coben series Shelter, following on from The Stranger and Stay Close, was also filmed in Stockport and has just been released on Amazon Prime Video.
