Lorraine Kelly was absent from her own ITV talk show this morning Friday, 20 October, surprising viewers as a new face stepped in.
The presenter, 63, sometimes misses her presenting slot on Lorraine when other commitments pop up, but it’s often her ITV co-stars Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard who step in for the star.
Today, viewers tuned in to see Louise Minchin sitting in Lorraine’s usual chair, as she introduced the morning’s show. Sharing an Instagram story shortly before her appearance, Louise shared a photo of a mug with the Lorraine logo on it, writing: “So excited to be back on early morning telly!! I am presenting @Lorraine today. See you at 9am”.
Alan Carr and Zoe Ball appeared on this morning's episode, ahead of their new reality show, Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream. Louise also spoke with Scandal star Kerry Washington about her discovery of a surprising family secret. Louise was previously a regular presenter on BBC Breakfast, joining the show as a main presenter in 2012.
She announced her departure from the BBC morning show in June 2021, citing the early starts as one of her reasons for leaving. At the time, she said: “I have absolutely loved being part of the six million-strong BBC Breakfast family but, after nearly two decades presenting the programme, I have decided it is time I stopped setting my alarm for 03.40 in the morning.” Later that year, she went on to be one of the campmates in the 2021 edition of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.
