Plans for a 16m high phone mast in Armadale have been met with resistance from locals.
Reading-based Cignal Infrastructure UK Limited has applied for permission to erect the telecommunications monopole at Birkenshaw Way.
But people living nearby are objecting to the plans, saying it would be an “eyesore to the community”, is too close to houses and questioned the safety of the masts.
One said: “With the height and length of the cabinets and pole I believe this would be huge loss of green land in our community. This would reduce the use for wildlife but also for young children able to play safely around this area.
“I also believe the height of this pole is a detrimental to the area as it is at a significant height and this would not fit in with the natural surroundings and make an eyesore to the community, which in turn would damage the mental health of people who would like family/friends to visit their home.
“As yet it is unproven that this technology is safe. Other countries are with holding installation until there is further scientific evidence. Although recently there have been reports sited by the media saying that there is no evidence that 5G/telecommunication is harmful, this is not quite the whole picture and we know that there are many scientists who are very concerned at the use of 5G/telecommunication without further research being carried out.”
Another said: “I cannot understand how this application was even considered to be sited in the middle of a housing estate and so close proximity to all the houses. I would have full view of a monstrosity every time I looked out my front window and obstructing my view which I have been fortunate to have for 51 years as well as all my neighbour.”
And another objector added:

Catherine Bray Set mostly in England, back before it was officially called England — and centuries before Great Britain was so much as a glint in the eye of James I — director Ed Bazalgette’s workmanlike historical epic “The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die” wraps up the events of “The Last Kingdom,” the Netfix drama series based on Bernard Cornwell’s “Saxon Tales” novels. Playing like “Game of Thrones” with more history and fewer dragons, the film opens with several smaller kingdoms, including Northumbria, Mercia and East Anglia, gearing up for a power struggle exacerbated by the recent death of Alfred the Great, king of Wessex, and worsened by the surreptitious attempts of the Danes to sow discord.
King Charles III may be the new monarch, but not even his new power is enough to get his little brother to listen to him!
