Showtime Sports Documentary Films is extending its partnership with NBA superstar Kevin Durant and his business partner Rich Kleiman’s Boardroom for a documentary called “NYC Point Gods,” which will showcase iconic point guards from New York City who left an indelible mark on the game and pop culture throughout the 1980s and ’90s. The film will delve into how the Big Apple has long been an epicenter for game-changing basketball talent that inspired American culture beyond the sport.“NYC Point Gods” will showcase a roster of New York City point guard legends including Rafer Alston, Kenny Anderson, Mark Jackson, Stephon Marbury, God Shammgod, Kenny Smith, Rod Strickland and Dwayne “Pearl” Washington.

As part of its Come as You Are Festival, the Atlanta Opera is presenting two exciting new works likely to be embraced by the LGBTQ community: “Cabaret” and the transgender themed “As One.”

Matt Donnelly Senior Film WriterA juicy new documentary about the life and public battles of late real estate mogul Leona Helmsley is currently in production, Variety has learned exclusively.  The film will contain never-before-heard tapes of Helmsley and her archrival Donald Trump, as well as “smoking gun” evidence that will question the tax evasion case brought on her by Rudy Giuliani in 1988.Helmsley was an icon of the “greed is good” era, an owner of luxury hotels and condominiums who left behind a $5 billion estate (which famously included a $12 million trust fund for her dog, a Maltese). Branded the “Queen of Mean” by the New York tabloids for her acid tongue and regal air, she was a bitter rival of Trump — who once called her “a disgrace to the industry and a disgrace to humanity in general.” Of Trump, Helmsley once reportedly said: “I wouldn’t trust him if his tongue was notarized.” Trump notoriously tried to snatch the crown jewel of Helmsley’s property portfolio, the Empire State building.Indie studio Gunpowder & Sky has boarded the project from Filmbank’s Keith Robert Patterson (HBO’s “All About Ann”), who will direct and produce.

Premiere Digital has acquired global distribution rights, including the U.S., for “The Girl on the Bridge,” a mental health documentary directed by New Zealand filmmaker Leanne Pooley.“The Girl on the Bridge” tells the story of 22-year old Jazz Thornton, who survived multiple suicide attempts and now works as a filmmaker and activist for young people’s mental health. The film sees her juggle the personal cost and pressures of advocacy work as she leads her own charity.Previously only seen in New Zealand and Australia, “The Girl on the Bridge” is now available on digital platforms.

Sex Pistols’ late manager Malcolm McLaren has been credited as a songwriter on Lizzo‘s latest single ‘About Damn Time’.The singer/rapper released the song last month as the lead single from her upcoming fourth studio album ‘Special’.McLaren, who passed away in April 2010, is posthumously credited as a songwriter on ‘About Damn Time’ as the song samples The World’s Famous Supreme Team’s ‘Hey! DJ’, which McLaren co-wrote.As TikTok user Patrick Hicks recently pointed out (via The Line Of Best Fit), ‘Hey!
