Labour loses control at Oldham council

Two possible candidates for Oldham council’s leader have emerged after a week of ‘chaotic’ negotiations between the borough’s political groups.

Scottish Labour are launching a series of policy summits to prepare the groundwork for the next Holyrood election.

Councillor Arooj Shah has unanimously re-elected as leader of the Oldham Labour Group. It means she has secured her continued role as leader of the council until May 22.
