Kate Middleton is reportedly 'heartbroken' over Prince William's decision on their son, Prince George's future education plans.
The royal couple have already toured William's old boarding school, Eton College, and plan to send young George, 10, there when he becomes a teenager, reports the Mirror. However, it has been claimed that the Princess of Wales was initially against this notion, before she agreed with husband William, who is eager for George to follow in his footsteps.
William, Kate and George were seen touring the school's Windsor headquarters in June last year, but Kate is said to be dreading watching her eldest boy being shipped off to school. Both Prince William and Harry went to school there, which came about as King Charles and Princess Diana wanted to break tradition in the first place.
Before Eton College, it had been a custom for royal children to attend Gordonstoun in Scotland - but Harry and William were shipped off to the Oxbridge feeder-school instead.
This decision came after Charles showed some apparent disdain for his school, which he attended from 1962 to 1967 and famously dubbed "Colditz in kilts". Also, Diana’s brother and father had attended Eton, with potentially more success and happiness than Charles had in his school in Scotland.
A royal insider told In Touch Weekly: "Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition. Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy. Plus, she’ll miss George desperately. She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won."
William enrolled at the boarding school in 1995, and went there during the week, taking the weekend off each time
