Prince William and Kate Middleton have opened up about their emoji-sending habits, and their answers have gone down a treat with social media users. The pair, who recently took part in a netball game as part of a mental fitness workshop, joined BBC Radio 1 presenters Vick Hope and Jordan North as they gave royal fans a glimpse inside their phone use. In an Instagram video posted by Radio 1 on Thursday, 12 October, the pair were asked by the presenting duo whether they’d be willing to share what emojis they use the most on their phones as part of their Access All Apps feature.
In response, 41 year old William joked: “Is this a clean thing or is this a family one?,” before revealing what his answer would be if he had to be “grown up” about his response. And his 'family one' was definitely not safe for work chats. “I’ve been told not to say the aubergine, so I’ve got to pick something else.
It would’ve been the aubergine,” he laughed. “But I’m saying now, because I’ve got to be a little grown up, it’s the one with the eyes that go up and down and the mouths out. What’s that one?” Meanwhile, Kate’s answer was a lot more wholesome and pointed to two emojis that were her particular favourites.
“Mine’s probably got to be the heart with then the crying emoji.
The sort of like hysterical laughing when things have gone wrong,” she explained. Elsewhere, Prince William, who has appeared on BBC Radio 1 several times in the past, spoke about the love of the station, having listened to it since he was “tiny”, and jokingly started ‘beef’ with breakfast show host Greg James by calling him an “average DJ”. After posting the video, fans of BBC Radio 1 were quick to comment on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ choice of emojis.
