Kanye West is under investigation after a confrontation with a woman who was filming him.
A spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to E! News on Friday, January 27 that the rapper, 45, is under investigation for battery allegations. They received a call on Friday about an altercation between the “Power” performer and a woman who was filming him. The authorities were provided with video that shows West was involved in a dispute with the woman and seemingly grabbed her phone out of her hand.
West departed the area before the police arrived. A crime report was taken, which will lead to a further investigation, the spokesperson explained.
In video of the incident obtained by TMZ, the Yeezy founder was seen approaching a woman in her car while they were at a stoplight. He’d gotten out of his car to speak to her.
“Y’all ain’t gonna run up on me like that,” West said.
The woman, who had a small dog in her lap, replied, “I wasn’t running.”
She kept her phone up, getting a close up of West as he demanded, “Stop with your cameras.”
The woman said, “I know, but Kanye you’re a celebrity.” Before she finished her sentence, West had grabbed the phone from her hands and threw it into the road.
The incident took place in Thousand Oaks, California, close to the facility where Kanye’s eldest daughter, North, 9, was scheduled to play a basketball game. Kim Kardashian attended with their son Saint, 6, as well as Tristan Thompson.
TMZ reports that West returned to his SUV, where his “wife,” Bianca Censori, was waiting.

Kanye West‘s anti-semitic remarks are linked to 30 different hate incidents in the US, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).The Anti-Defamation League – an international Jewish non-governmental, anti-hate organisation – released a report yesterday (February 13) that referred to 30 anti-semitic incidents that directly referenced the rapper’s comments about Jewish people.“These incidents — which include vandalism, banner drops, targeted harassment and campus propaganda distributions — demonstrate the ongoing influence of Ye’s conspiratorial, bigoted rants,” the ADL wrote in the report.It continued that “immediately following Ye’s antisemitic comments” which included “inflammatory tropes about Jewish power and Holocaust denial”, the slogan ‘Ye is Right’ surfaced online in hashtags and anti-semitic accounts.“The ADL Center on Extremism has also tracked references to “Ye is Right” in instances of on-the-ground antisemitic vandalism and harassment nationwide,” it continued.“These incidents – only some of which are perpetrated by known extremists – demonstrate how references to Ye, often paired with swastikas or other antisemitic slurs, have become mainstream shorthand for the hatred of – or a desire to commit violence against – Jewish people.”In a statement to Billboard, ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said: “Kanye West’s repeated antisemitic remarks – and his dredging up some of the worst anti-Jewish tropes imaginable – doubtlessly are having an impact and inspiring people to commit real-world acts of hate.“As we have long maintained, celebrities and others who engage in spreading hateful tropes need to know their words have consequences.

They previously asked the court if they could do the serving via text message.
