EXCLUSIVE: June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie) is the newest addition to the cast of Weapons, New Line‘s mysterious new horror thriller from director Zach Cregger.
No word on the role she’ll be playing. The film’s logline remains under wraps. As previously announced, the cast also includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Amy Madigan, Austin Abrams and Cary Christopher.
Written and directed by Cregger, Weapons marks his follow-up to Barbarian, the horror film marking his debut solo outing which opened #1 at the box office in 2022 and sits at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Starring Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, and Justin Long, that film grossed ten times its production budget of $4.5 million to ultimately take in more than $45 million worldwide.
Cregger is also producing alongside his Barbarian producing team, Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures, as well as Vertigo’s Miri Yoon. The film has just recently been set to open on January 16, 2026.
Best known for starring in Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, Raphael was most recently in business with New Line on 8-Bit Christmas, a family holiday feature released in 2021. Most recently, she’s been seen on the series Abbott Elementary, The Morning Show and Based On a True Story, as well as in films like Long Shot and Blockers.
Raphael will next exec produce and star in and Amazon MGM and Lionsgate’s improv-style multi-cam pilot Dinks, from Grace and Frankie creator Marta Kauffman, under her Okay Goodnight banner. She’ll also headline the multi-cam comedy, Something Wicked, a Bewitched-inspired comedy currently in development at NBC, which she’s writing and exec producing alongside Dickinson creator Alena
