Julia Garner Joins Josh Brolin In New Line’s ‘Weapons’

EXCLUSIVE: Paul Walter Hauser‘s hot streak continues. After seeing New Line lock up rights to the authorized Chris Farley biopic in which he’ll star for director Josh Gad, the actor has signed on to the untitled Naked Gun reboot from Paramount Pictures.

Filmmaker Zach Cregger’s next film, the thriller “Weapons,” looks like it’s armed and ready to do fire. Yesterday, Alden Ehrenreich joined the cast, which already includes Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, indicating how fast Cregger shot to the A-list of directors.

After Deadline broke the news last week that New Line was in pole position top land the package A Chris Farley Story, the studio made it official today having landed the biopic on the legendary comedian.  Paul Walter Hauser and to be directed by Josh Gad, with Lorne Michaels and Erin David producing via Broadway Video. Sources say the package sold in the $2.5 million dollar range.

Jack Dunn “Rosemary’s Baby” prequel “Apartment 7A,” starring Julia Garner and directed by Natalie Erika James, will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ ahead of the Halloween season. Roman Polanski’s 1968 horror classic was produced by Paramount, starring Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes as a young couple who are trying to start a family but find themselves tormented by strange neighbors.

Paramount+ announced that the all-new original film Apartment 7A, a psychological thriller starring Golden Globe winner Julia Garner (Ozark) and directed by Natalie Erika James (Relic), will premiere this fall exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and in select international markets.

Garner will star opposite the previously announced Josh Brolin, with shooting starting in Atlanta next month.
