Jimmy Kimmel to Host 2024 Oscars Ceremony

It’s a busy day in awards season news as the New York Film Critics Circle anointed “Killers of the Flower Moon” as Best Film of 2023 and both Film Independent and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had major announcements. The latter revealed that “Saturday Night Live” and “Shrill” star Aidy Bryant will host the 39th Independent Spirit Awards on February 25.

Former Brookside star Dean Sullivan has died following a short illness. It comes after the actor, who was known to many for playing drug dealer Jimmy Corkhill in Channel 4 soap Brookside, confirmed he was living with prostate cancer in May - five years after his original diagnosis -  but his cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

When Nyad finally succeeds at the age of 64, her message is, “It’s never too late to follow your dream.” Here, Vasarhelyi and Chin look back on how their documentarian skills fed into recreating an epic seafaring experience, and how both their marriage and their working relationship evolved as a result.

When We Were Young Festival have announced that their 2024 edition will now run for an extra day, with the same bands all set to play again on Sunday October 20.The Las Vegas emo bash unveiled its lineup for next year earlier this month, with My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World topping the bill on October 19. The original tickets sold out on November 17.Now, due to what the festival describes as “overwhelming demand”, they have added the second date.

After a slight uptick in ratings for the 95th Academy Awards, it wasn’t a surprise when The Academy announced this afternoon that Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the 96th ceremony. Kimmel will join an impressive group of at least four-time emcees including Bob Hope (19 times), Billy Crystal (9 times), Johnny Carson (5 times), Whoopi Goldberg (4 times), and Jack Lemmon (4 times).

Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 96th Academy Awards, marking the fourth time and second straight year that the Jimmy Kimmel Live! mainstay has accepted the gig. The ceremony is March 10 on ABC.
