Following the accession of King Charles in September 2022, a number of changes that come with a new reign were automatically enacted - including one which affected Queen Camilla and Princess Beatrice. This move saw the pair both added to the list of Counsellors of State - meaning they can step in for the King if he is abroad, ill or becomes otherwise incapacitated and hold the powers of the sovereign in an emergency.

According to reports, Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales could be set to be handed a new royal honour to keep up with the dwindling number of senior royals and cope with a backlog of investitures caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Currently, only King Charles, the Prince of Wales and the Princess Royal are able to hand out OBEs, MBEs and similar honours as 'blood' royals - but this could soon change as there is speculation that the proposal is being discussed, the Daily Mail reports.
