Jet2 issues travel warning to anyone flying to Spanish hotspot over next five months

Jet2 has warned passengers travelling to the Spanish hotspot of Alicante in the coming months of ‘potential congestion’ at the airport as ground handling staff go on strike. The walkouts are supported by the security service at Alicante airport, meaning holidaymakers could face longer waits than usual.
The walkouts are only taking place for two hours on strike days. However, strikes have been announced for dozens of dates from September to January 2024. The airline has released a list of all the dates affected, so travellers can check in advance of their holiday.
In a statement on its website, Jet2 said: “We wanted to let you know that a Ground Handling strike action is taking place on the following dates listed below. This is supported by the Security service at Alicante airport and this may mean potential congestion in security.”

Jet 2 added: “We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. We hope you have a lovely flight.”
Jet2 said that the strike action would take place for one hour in the morning from 8.45am to 9.45am, and one hour in the evening from 6pm to 7pm local time. The walkouts will take place between September 2023 to January 2024 on the following dates:
