Jamie Carragher has said that Cristiano Ronaldo needs to leave Manchester United in order for the club to start rebuilding under Erik ten Hag.
The future of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been a constant backdrop to United's summer transfer window. There are now less than two weeks to go until the September 1 deadline and Ronaldo's future at the club is still yet to be decided.
After missing the club's pre-season tour, the 37-year-old featured in the first two Premier League matches under Ten Hag, with the Portuguese international in the starting XI for the 4-0 defeat to Brentford. It is believed that Ronaldo wants to leave United in order to join a Champions League club and Ten Hag would not prevent this from happening.

However, it is also thought that Joel Glazer wants to keep Ronaldo, creating a conflict among the decision makers at the club. Although this might create a potentially awkward situation at United, it could provide Ten Hag with a moment of authority as the Dutchman looks to carve his own philosophy at Old Trafford.
One person who thinks that United are better off without Ronaldo is the former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit, as Carragher had his say on the player's future.
