James Martin, 51, revealed that the “biggest low” about his incredible career as a TV chef has been ‘putting everything else aside,' sharing that having kids hasn't been on the cards for him because he's ‘given up everything’ for his job. Despite the Saturday Kitchen star being in a long-term relationship with girlfriend Louise Davies for 11 years, he's opted not to get married or have any kids.
In an unearthed interview with Prima back in April 2020, the TV personality explained that his dedication to his career had made it difficult for him to choose a "conventional" path in life. He said: "The biggest low of my career is that I’ve given up everything for it.
I look at my mates, and they’re all married with kids, and that’s not the case for me because I’ve been so focused on work.” But the star doesn't regret sacrificing a family for his career, adding that he has no regrets and 'would do the same thing again because it’s made him who he is.' James met his TV producer other half, Louise Davies, on the Celebrity version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and they have been together since 2011. But James has been candid that he has ‘no interest’ in tying the knot with his partner, telling Sunday People: “No, it doesn't interest me in the slightest, mainly because I've catered for so many weddings, really.
"I admire people who do it, that's fine, but I'm quite happy. I don't need to spend 60 grand on a day, no, I'm more than happy, thanks." The famous chef previously dated former Miss England, Sally Kettle, and James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.
