There were worrying scenes on Coronation Street this week for Joseph Brown after a headache led to an A&E visit.
Joseph’s stepmom Gemma Winter allowed the youngster to take the day off school, much to the chagrin of dad Chesney Brown.
After Chesney accused his son of faking illness to get out of school, Joseph was adamant that he was telling the truth.
Gemma tried to take him to the GP, as writes the Mirror, but was unable to secure an appointment, so she decided to take him to hospital.
The 12-year-old appeared to be less than happy about the trip to A&E, while Gemma rushed around trying to get someone to step in and look after her children so she could head to hospital. Later in the episode, when Chesney questioned his other half, he was shocked to hear Gemma had gone to hospital with Joseph for a headache.
She then told Chesney that Joseph was still feeling under the weather and was lethargic, worrying he was suffering from a bug. But Chesney accused Gemma of googling a diagnosis online, as he made it clear he was still not convinced there was anything wrong with his son.

Not one to shy away from making her feelings clear, Gemma was outraged at his reaction, and even took Chesney’s dinner off him.
According to ITV viewers, this storyline paved the way for Gemma to show signs of struggling with the stresses on her, which was perhaps causing her to be overprotective of her stepson. Gemma has had a lot on her plate of late, after her twin brother Paul Foreman’s motor neurone disease diagnosis, as well as mental health issues over the years.
