Coronation Street fan favourite Bethany Platt may soon be in danger, according to the latest episode of the ITV soap, after the junior journalist began receiving scary texts from someone who seemed to be part of a far-right extremist group she was investigating. Bethany first picked up the dodgy contacts from Lauren Bolton, whose dad was part of such a group and had influenced her and Max Turner with his racist beliefs in a 2022 storyline.
Lauren caught the eye of journalist Bethany, who was on the hunt for a new story, with Lauren volunteering to help in exchange for some much needed cash.
The troubled teen suggested she could share her experience with the extremist group and even gave Bethany some contacts after admitting she still had some people's details. But things took a turn for the worst when Bethany reached out to the contacts for their side of the story and got some creepy replies.
Despite this, Bethany persevered and was determined to write the article, even though it's clearly making those involved uncomfortable. Bethany may soon wish she hadn't, however, as future episodes show her receiving more messages and Lauren seeming to disappear altogether! But just how much danger are they both in, and who is after them?
