Emmerdale fans will be pleased to know that ITV will be airing three back-to-back episodes of the well-loved soap on Thursday 15 September. The decision by ITV comes after the broadcaster has shaken up its usual television schedule following the death of Her Majesty the Queen last week – something which has since dominated TV channels across the UK. While Emmerdale will finally be back on our screens again, it will still be behind its usual schedule and will air at 7:30pm.The three episodes that are being shown were due to be aired earlier this week.
Following the Emmerdale marathon, an hour-long episode of Coronation Street will be shown at 9pm. ITV news will then follow, Metro Online reports. As well as ITV soaps, BBC’s EastEnders was also cancelled following the Queen’s passing.
It returned to screens on Monday 12 September however, alongside Corrie. While EastEnders, Corrie and Emmerdale are slowly being reintroduced to British TV schedules, one show that won’t be back until next week is Strictly Come Dancing. It was revealed yesterday, Tuesday 13 September, that the show’s 2022 debut was pushed back from this weekend to Friday 23 September.
Strictly fans went on to express their disappointment as they branded the show as a “welcome distraction” amid the ongoing national period of mourning. One person penned online: “Really sad that they have postponed the #Strictly launch show, it’s just the welcome distraction I need at the moment.Thank goodness for #GBBO tonight. “When you’re grieving and all around you is talk of death, miserable music etc.
