ITV have announced that the 2024 British Soap Awards have been axed.
Channel bosses have not given an explanation as to why the decision has been made.
Almost three million viewers tuned into this year's award ceremony that celebrated soap's biggest achievements across the channels.
A spokesperson for ITV told The Mirror: "The British Soap Awards won't be on air in 2024 but is set to return in 2025. The show was fantastically received in 2023, achieving consolidated figures of 2.9 million and doubling its audience year on year, so we look forward to the show's return."
This year Jane McDonald took over presenting duties from Phillip Schofield after he quit all contracts with ITV. The show faced much speculation over who would take over presenting duties after his abrupt exit from the channel earlier this year.
Stars from the nation's most loved soaps including Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks all gather for the event. The first British Soap Awards took place in 1999 and was presented by Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.
The TV duo hosted the glitzy awards until 2001 and Matthew Kelly presented the 2002 awards, before being replaced by Des O'Connor and Melanie Sykes in 2003.
