Residents are calling for more safety measures to be put into place on a major road after a number of incidents - including one already this year.
People living in Gorton have called for improvements such as zebra crossings, speed cameras and extra traffic lights to be placed along Hyde Road. The renewed calls for action come after a man was seriously injured after he was hit by a vehicle on a stretch of the road on New Year's Day.
An 81-year-old man was arrested and a police investigation continues.

Jackie Totell, a resident in West Gorton said: “The amount of accidents happening over the past two years is crazy, I’m always double checking the roads are free.
“We heard all of the commotion and sirens and the road is about a two-minute walk from us and we found out that someone had been hit.
“My first reaction was genuinely not again? This has happened too many times. Why not just put a zebra crossing? There is a McDonald’s and gym across there. People don’t want to take 5 minutes just to cross.”
Aiden Lennox, a 19-year-old student who had attended the Manchester College on Hyde Road saw an incident on the road two years ago.
“It was a while ago but I still remember the sound, me and two friends were walking to get some lunch and we heard a massive bang.
“It looked like one of the cars had hit side on and I remember the commotion, was actually quite scary, the cars here go pretty quick, I’ve seen a lot of rubbish driving here too.
“I’d say we were pretty close getting hit when we started walking when it was a red light and a driver was still wanting to go, seen it on loads of times.”
