The tragic last days of Grammy-award-winning Irish singer Sinead O'Connor, who sadly passed away in July last year, have been revealed.
The cause of her death has now been confirmed by a coroner as natural causes. Sinead, famous for her hit song Nothing Compares 2 U and her iconic shaved head, was found unresponsive at her home in Herne Hill, south-east London. At the time, the Metropolitan Police said her death wasn't being treated as suspicious.
On Tuesday, January 9, Southwark Coroners Court confirmed: "This is to confirm that Ms O'Connor died of natural causes.
The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death. If an inquest is to be opened, the date of the brief public hearing will be provided on our website." Sinead leaves behind three children, Jake, Roisin and Yeshua. Her son Shane tragically passed away in 2022 at just 17 years old.
In her last social media post, Sinead poured out her heart about her son Shane, who tragically passed away after leaving hospital where he was on suicide watch. She shared: "Been living as undead night creature since. He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul.
We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him." In the days leading up to her passing, she kept her fans updated via Twitter, mentioning plans for creating new music.
Her managers announced that she had nearly completed a fresh album, her first studio release in nearly a decade. She was working on planning tour dates for 2024 and was considering "opportunities" for a film adaptation of her book. Before she died, Sinead shared details about a scary stalker situation on social media.
