Manchester Crown Court heard that the girl was sat at a bus stop in November last year when Mr Gillings approached her. The girl said he said hello before adding: "The bus lines are down and I'm going to have to take you to your destination."

Prosecutors allege Mr Gillings tried to get the girl to leave with him in his car. She claimed that he became 'angry' when she refused. "It was kind of going through my head that I was going to get kidnapped on the spot," the child said.
