Lauren Whisker, 30, was told she would never have kids due to suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which affects the function of the ovaries. She was warned that her chances of having a baby on her own after the diagnosis in 2019 were "very unlikely" so she "gave up hope".
Lauren stopped trying for a baby, however, she was stunned after discovering she was pregnant in July 2021. She gave birth to Ava Whisker on January 25, 2022 at North Manchester General Hospital, Crumpsall.

Lauren, a part-time bar maid, from Clayton, Manchester, said: “I was trying for a baby for 10 years. I went to the doctor and they told me I had PCOS.
“They said it was very unlikely I’d be able to have a baby. I just felt sad that I wasn’t going to become a mum.
“In July 2021 I woke up with pain in my stomach and rang the doctors as I thought it might be my PCOS. They told me to do a pregnancy test and it came up with two lines. I was in shock, I cried.
“I held her for the first time and I was shaking. I can’t believe she is here and she is mine.”

Following her PCOS diagnosis, Lauren was left with stomach pain and an irregular period. "I gave up hope," she said. She began looking into IVF but the process was slowed down by the pandemic.
However, on July 8, 2021, she woke up with stomach pain and called the doctor who advised she take a pregnancy test. "Straight away there were two lines," she said.

Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Lyrics that include the words “dick,” “fuck” and “pussy” are not the typical wholesome, family content the Academy’s Music Branch tends to recognize. But occasionally, they have allowed a couple to slip through. A24’s “Dicks: The Musical,” the opening night Midnight Madness at TIFF, has an onslaught of hilarious and catchy tunes that I wish the Oscars would be brave enough to nominate.
Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Sony Pictures’ “Dumb Money” could be the most frightening horror movie this year, and the Oscars would be smart to embrace it. From the critically acclaimed director Craig Gillespie, his smart and at times tragic look at the GameStop stock story of 2021 entertained the audiences of the Toronto Film Festival on Friday night where it held its world premiere.
Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Actor Sandra Hüller could be the critical darling of awards season with two acclaimed performances in two high-profile international feature contenders, France’s “Anatomy of a Fall” from Justine Triet and United Kingdom’s “The Zone of Interest” from Jonathan Glazer. The German performer has opted to campaign her work in Glazer’s Holocaust-era drama for best supporting actress, Variety can reveal exclusively, greatly increasing her chances for possible double acting recognition this year. Her work in Triet’s French Oscar hopeful will be submitted for lead actress consideration.
Anita Rani has reportedly split from her husband after 14 years of marriage. The TV presenter, who regularly appears on The One Show and Countryfile – and who partnered Gleb Savchenko on 2015's Strictly Come Dancing – married Bhupinder Rehal in Bradford, West Yorkshire, in 2009. But now a source has told The Mirror that they pair have decided to separate.
Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor “Sex is back,” said Julie Hintsinger, executive director of the Telluride Film Festival, to a packed house of festival-goers as they took in the newest effort from Yorgos Lanthimos at this year’s 50th anniversary. One of the festivals tributes this year, a pre-screening convo was moderated by director Karyn Kusama, as the two discussed his filmography which included his early works “Kinnetic” and “Alps.” In the audience were Oscar winners like director Chloé Zhao (“Nomadland”) and actor Casey Affleck (“Manchester by the Sea”), and they, along with the crowd, devoured it.
Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor In “Nyad,” the titular character is entitled, mean, self-centered and treats people around her terribly… and she’s our hero? Supporting actors Jodie Foster and Rhys Ifans manage to keep the film moving along, but the main subject, played passionately by Annette Bening, is one who is difficult to connect with and root for in this modern take on a sports drama. A still Oscar-less Bening could be a possibility for traction in the best actress race – at least, Netflix hopes so.
Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor If the summer belonged to Cillian Murphy from “Oppenheimer,” then the upcoming fall season will belong to Colman Domingo in “Rustin.” The Emmy-winning actor of HBO’s “Euphoria” throws down the gauntlet with his portrayal of the gay civil rights leader Bayard Rustin in George C. Wolfe’s biopic, which just premiered at the Telluride Film Festival, where Barack Obama pre-recorded a message for attendees. “This past week marked the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington and that March would not have happened without Bayard Rustin,” Obama said in his message.

Passengers jetting to Corfu from Manchester say their journey has turned to 'chaos' after they were flown to Athens instead and forced to wait hours on the tarmac in a 'boiling' plane.
Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Representation in films and television isn’t only about race and ethnicity. It’s also about giving deserved respect to genres and recognizing the allies who do the work to ensure those stories are appropriately told. That’s what director Dan Trachtenberg achieves with the science-fiction horror flick “Prey,” while working hand-in-hand with Indigenous producer Jhane Myers.
Clayton Davis Senior Awards Editor Padma Lakshmi wants a man … a gold man, that is. After 16 Primetime Emmy nominations throughout her career, she makes no qualms about wanting to make a trip to the stage to accept a statuette. She’s double nominated this year for outstanding host for a reality or competition program for Bravo’s “Top Chef” and outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special for Hulu’s “Taste the Nation.” Lakshmi has emceed the Bravo series for 17 years and in June, she announced, via social media, that she would be exiting after the recently aired 20th season.

Among the suggestions are films that brought Oscar nominations to Latino actors and artists, including Salma Hayek, as Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in “Frida” (2002); Catalina Sandino Moreno, who portrayed a desperate undocumented pregnant immigrant in “Maria Full of Grace” (2004) and Demián Bichir, who played an undocumented worker in Los Angeles in “A Better Life” (2011).
