Former S Club star Hannah Spearritt is the latest celebrity announced to be joining ITV's Dancing on Ice, which will launch in 2024. Revealing the news exclusively on GMB today, Hannah said: "I'm really excited about learning a new skill. It's so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing.
Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It's really exciting.” Hannah is the third celebrity revealed to be doing the show in 2024, following Claire Sweeney who was second, and boxer Ricky Hatton MBE, the first announcement. Hannah found fame as one seventh of S Club 7, a hugely famous pop band which started in 1998, and had hits such as Reach For the Stars. She was due to join them on their reunion tour this year, but quit following the sudden death of their former bandmate, and her on-off boyfriend, Paul Cattermole in April.
Since then, relations between Hannah and the rest of the band, who are still doing the tour, are believed to have soured. Hannah's bandmates - Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Jo O'Meara and Bradley McIntosh - shared a video to social media letting fans know of Hannah's decision to pull out of the tour scheduled for later this year. "Although Hannah will always be a part of S Club, she won't be joining us on this tour," said bandmates Jo O'Meara and Tina Barrett as they struggled not to cry.
Soon though, rumours of a rift between Hannah and the rest of the band emerged, amid claims she was 'pushed out' of joining them on tour. But during an appearance on This Morning in July, the band dismissed claims of any drama as they insisted that the door is always open for Hannah. Paul, 46, was found dead at his Dorset home in April.
