Holly Willoughby is set to return to Dancing On Ice next year after her sudden departure from This Morning.
The TV presenter, 42, has had a tumultuous year following Phillip Schofield's shocking exit from the flagship ITV show as she announced her own departure after 14 years. Holly's TV future was up in the air following her recent announcement, but sources close to the star claim she will be back to host Dancing On Ice in January.
ITV bosses were already searching for a replacement for Phillip, 61, on the figure skating show with Stephen Mulhern reportedly lined up as Holly's co-host. For a while, Holly's involvement on Dancing On Ice was uncertain but friends say she is keen to return despite quitting This Morning.
Insiders close to Holly told The Mirror: “Holly has told pals she wants to do Dancing on Ice. In spite of her decision to walk away from This Morning, she’s still part of the ITV family and loves the show.
“The last few weeks have been really difficult for her, and her team have avoided any formal discussions about work because she has been through so much lately. While Holly has understandably struggled with recent events, she is trying her best –with the help of family and friends – to look forward and to be positive.”
An ITV insider said: “Holly is a much-loved part of the Dancing on Ice team. We would, of course, be thrilled to have her hosting the show in January, if she feels the time is right.”
ITV bosses have told Holly that there is no rush or pressure to return to the ITV fold as the full cast for Dancing On Ice has been announced. Amber Davies, Claire Sweeney, Greg Rutherford, Ricky Hatton and Stephen Webb are all confirmed to take part in the series.
