Chainsaw Man is one of the most talked about anime shows in years – but is it available to watch in the UK?Adapted from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga series, Chainsaw Man follows the life of Denji, a teenager who lives in poverty with his chainsaw-headed devil dog Pochita.Exhausted and depressed, Denji dreams of having a normal life, but things get even worse when he’s lured into a trap by his Yakuza boss and sliced to pieces by a devil-controlled zombie horde. As he dies, Pochita saves Denji’s life by possessing him – turning him into a half-human, half-devil entity who is able to transform any part of his body into a chainsaw. The series was released back in October 2022, but anime fans in the UK have had to wait a little longer. You can watch all 12 episodes of the series on the anime streaming service Crunchyroll, which is currently offering a 14-day free trial. And given that each episode is only 23 minutes long, that should be more than long enough to get through the entire first season.
The cheapest available subscription on the service comes in at £4.99 a month.Viewers in the UK can also find the show on Apple TV+, which is currently offering a 7-day free trial. You’ll then be charged £6.99 a month to continue using the service. In a four-star review of Chainsaw Man’s first episode, NME wrote: “No wonder this series is already the talk of the town – within 25 minutes, we’ve been introduced into a gritty yet fantastical world, felt for the simple and sympathetic Denji, gotten a taste of the violence, chaos and gnarliness to come, and been left to ponder a slew of interesting questions.“Will Denji’s newfound power overtake his humanity? What’s up with Makima and her agency? Fujimoto’s manga is notorious for its swift

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has notched another box office milestone, crossing $500 million globally. So far, Sony’s animated comic book sequel has grossed $290.4 million in North America and $215.9 million internationally, which brings its worldwide tally to a mighty $506.3 million. It currently stands as the third-highest grossing domestic release of the year, behind Universal’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” ($572 million) and Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” ($345 million). And it’s the fourth-biggest global release following “Mario” ($1.3 billion), “Guardians” ($822 million) and “Fast X” ($679 million). “Across the Spider-Verse” opened on June 2, collecting a huge $120 million during its first weekend in theaters. Despite competition from “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” another comic book adventure “The Flash” and Pixar’s animated “Elemental,” the second “Spider-Verse” remained a huge draw at the movies and even managed to surpass the entire run of its 2018 predecessor, “Into the Spider-Verse” ($384 million), after just 12 days of release.
Kinetic Content, it never has been. Most of the popular unscripted shows today — from “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race” and “American Idol” to “The Bachelor” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” premiered in 2010 or before. The global “reality boom” exploded 25 years ago. In the years to follow, the majority of unscripted content that debuted took off for a moment and later fizzled out. In fact, in the last 12 years, only four global non-scripted format hits have spawned multiple localized international versions in a foreign language, all while hitting the No. 1 ranking for their platform in their most recent season: “Married at First Sight,” “Love Is Blind,” “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On” and “The Masked Singer.”

Sometimes it feels as though A.I. is already here, given the number of films resembling Garden State that pop up on the festival circuit every year. Robert Schwartzman’s The Good Half is only the latest, and his attempt to out-emo Zach Braff’s legacy film falls disappointingly short, given that his last Tribeca appearance was with the surreal and underrated comedy The Argument (2020), which channeled Charlie Kaufman in the story of a couple whose obsession with a petty fight spirals into absurdity. The Good Half, however, mostly serves as a decent vehicle for Nick Jonas, who seems to making a play to be the new Adam Driver, which is not as far-fetched as it might sound.
