A hero Scots police dog who had a chunk of his ear ripped off by a vicious thug is looking for a forever home after leaving the force. PD Remo was honoured for bravery alongside his handler PC Paul O'Donnell in 2020 by former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon after the pair were attacked with a metal bar in Ayrshire.
Jamie O’Neill had been fleeing after assaulting his former partner and throwing a brick through a window when he was caught by Remo in Kilwinning - hitting the dog before biting part of his ear off. The thug left PC O'Donnell in hospital and the police dog needing emergency root canal surgery with a £4000 titanium implant.
Remo retired in March 2020 and was honoured by Nicola Sturgeon alongside the Police Federation. During his service, he worked as a General Purpose Dog and a Firearms Support Dog.
Now, the Belgian Malinois cross faces being put in kennels if a suitable home can't be found. An urgent appeal has been launched by Hero Paws which provides support to ex-military and service dogs to find Remo a permanent home.
The charity said in a post: "Retired Scottish police dog Remo is looking for a new home due to a change in circumstances He's a great lump of a lad with a pure heart of gold but has does come with quirks and demons from a hard-working life.
"Physically fit but a wee broken soul, so a little extra care is needed in the great wide world. He's a fab dog but does have trauma from his working days so he needs a knowledgeable home.
"We've had some fab offers but he's not an easy slot. This can't be an if but or maybe. This needs to be his forever.
"Unfortunately it's looking like kennels, and as cared for as he will be it's not something we want to do to mess him about from home environment to kennels

reads a statement on YouTube’s support page.According to the page, those who are in the beta group can toggle the new feature from YouTube’s voice search and “hum or record the song you’re searching for 3 or more seconds.”Once the song has been identified by the software, the video-sharing website will send the user all “relevant official music content, user-generated videos, and/or Shorts featuring the searched song in the YouTube app.”The Google-owned company stated that while only a small portion of Android users currently have the feature, the brand-new update will soon be released to everyone.Should the update prove successful, the new feature will put YouTube in direct competition with the Apple-owned app Shazam.According to Google, their goal is twofold: One goal is to “make it easier for users to find” and engage with content on YouTube, while the other is to relieve some of the pressure put on creators to upload multiple times a day.
