Heartbeat actor Nick Berry looks worlds away from his TV days after being photographed with a bushy grey beard and glasses during a day out recently.
The 60-year-old made his last TV appearance in 2012 on EastEnders as Simon Wicks at the funeral of his on-screen mother Pat Butcher. Nick looks almost unrecognisable compared to the 90s heartthrob most fans will think of when his name comes to mind.
Since quitting the limelight, Nick has grown a beard and embraced the change of his previously brown hair turning grey. In pictures that were obtained by The Mirror, Nick could be seen enjoying an afternoon out and about and was snapped grabbing coffee from his local bakery, wearing a black NYC t-shirt, jeans, trainers and sunglasses.
The actor quit his TV career to be a stay-at-home dad to his son's Louis and Finley, who he shares with wife Rachel Robertson. Nick and Rachel tied the knot in 1994 and soon prioritised their family life over his soap stardom.
The family now live in Epping in Essex - but Nick hasn't completely ruled out a return to his former acting career. While he previously felt that his busy acting schedule was robbing him of time with his children, Nick's two boys are all grown up now.
"I chose to be a stay-at-home dad and have loved it," he told Mail Online in a 2011 interview. "I always said that when the boys were teenagers I could go back, but the longer you don't do something the harder it is to do it, and I haven't really missed it.
"While I'd never say never, I'm genuinely happy as I am. The job was great. You're driven everywhere, fed every five minutes and told what to do and where to go. What I struggled with was that the boys were very young and I felt like I was away filming all the time."
