A man pretended to be a police officer after breaking into a woman's home before carrying out a terrifying attack.
Harvey Collier screamed 'police get up!' after breaking into his victim's home in the early hours. He shone a torch, demanded money and warned the panicking woman that he would hit her if she screamed.
The drug-addicted robber escaped from the house with a haul of stolen goods and up to £400 cash, HullLive reports.
Collier, 25, of Castle Way, Hessle, admitted 10 offences, including three of robbery, four of domestic burglary and others of taking a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
Michael Forrest, prosecuting, said that a woman was asleep in her Hull home on November 3 when she heard a man shouting: "Police get up". Collier shone a torch through the upstairs window.
She went to the bedroom door but realised that Collier was already inside her home. She said: "How do I know you are the police?"
Collier told her that he did not need proof and he told her to shut up. She noticed that he had her phone in his hand. He told her: "You don't need it" and he started to ask her where her money was.
"The defendant kept asking where the money was as he went downstairs," said Mr Forrest. Collier told the woman: "If you don't show me where your money is, my mate is outside and he will come in and bray you."
She tried to turn the light on but Collier would not allow her to do so and he pushed her forward, away from the switch. He warned her: "If you scream, I will hit you."
Collier pushed her into the kitchen and continued to demand money and bank cards. She told him that her handbag was in a downstairs bathroom and he rifled through it, taking £300 to £400 cash and several debit
