Tributes have been paid to a doctor who looked after patients in Stockport for over four decades. Dr Sikander Malik worked at four GP practices and two hospitals during his 43 years spent working in the borough.
Surrounded by his loved ones, he died in hospital of pneumonia last October age 83 after suffering a fall and a bleed on the brain the previous month.
Members of his family have now paid heartwarming tributes to the much-loved dad-of-three and grandfather, who they have said was a 'born healer' and whose 'stethoscope remained in his jacket pocket till his last days.'

Dr Malik was born in Dasada in the state of Gujarat in the west of India, where his ancestral line goes back over 600 years and includes the area's former princely rulers.
After being educated in his birthplace, including at the Government Medical College in Nagpur, he drove from India to the UK with his brother to start a new life in 1971, with the epic road journey taking them 15 days.
He initially worked at Stracathro Hospital near Brechin in Scotland before becoming a medical registrar at West Park Hospital in Macclesfield, where he met his wife Hamidah. He also worked at the now-closed Stockport Infirmary before a second spell at Stracathro and a stint at Stockport's Stepping Hll Hospital.
In 1976 he became a GP, becoming a partner at Dr Herbert's Medical Practice in Heaviley. The following year he joined the Gorton Road Practice in Reddish.
He also held weekly held clinics at the Stockport Infirmary, from 1976 until 1995, just a year before the hospital, which faced the town hall on the A6, closed.
