More than 7,800 new homes planned across Greater Manchester are set to receive a share of a £115m fund. The 92 developments across the city-region which have been selected for a slice of the government's Brownfield Housing Fund have been revealed.
Most of the developments benefiting from the cash boost will include some 'affordable' housing with around 4,000 discounted homes planned in total. And four in five of the selected schemes will be built to the 'Future Homes Standard', making them more eco-friendly.
The funding comes from the second tranche of the three-year £150m brownfield programme announced as part of Greater Manchester's latest devolution deal signed in March 2023. The trailblazer agreement set a target of 7,000 new homes by 2026.

If approved by council leaders on Friday (January 26), the target will be exceeded with funding allocated to private developers, social housing providers and councils for up to 11,000 new homes. Work is scheduled to begin on the schemes no later than December 2025.
Tameside council leader Ged Cooney, Greater Manchester's lead for housing, said: "This latest £115m boost to housebuilding through the Brownfield Housing Fund will unlock good, affordable homes, support skilled construction jobs and apprenticeships, and open routes for further investment.
"We will continue to use our devolved powers and funding to prioritise brownfield land for development, working together to exceed our targets for delivering the new homes that we know Greater Manchester needs."
