Hairy Biker Dave Myers reveals he's lost 'so much weight' during 'brutal' chemotherapy

Dave Myers, the renowned personality from the Hairy Bikers, has spoken candidly about the side effects of his chemotherapy treatment following his cancer diagnosis last year.The television personality shared the news of his diagnosis in 2022 during a podcast with his Hairy Biker co-host, Si King, revealing that he had been unwell and had to start chemotherapy. And he has recently opened up about his experiences, confessing that he struggled to cope with the adverse effects of the therapy.
Despite the initial belief that the loss of his appetite and subsequent weight loss could be a positive, the 65-year-old former Strictly Come Dancing star now acknowledges that this perception was misguided. Speaking on the Seasoned podcast, he candidly revealed: "It's funny when you first start chemotherapy, it's quite hard – I'm still having it, it was really brutal.
"I lost so much weight and then it's a battle to get your calories in." Dave and his Hairy Bikers colleague, Si King, are used to sampling diverse culinary delights during their travels and so Dave's sudden loss of appetite proved to be a significant and unwelcome lifestyle change. He continued: "At first I thought, 'Right, this is great, I can eat all those pies I haven't been eating for years', except [my] appetite was dreadful! "For me, a glutton, losing my appetite was awful, a can of soup was about as far as I could go.
"Now I've got to the point where I'm at the weight I want to be, and I want to maintain it."
