Greg Rutherford's fiancée has issued an update on the former Olympian's surgery recovery after he 'tore all of his abs' on the morning of the Dancing On Ice final. Greg, 37, was forced to quit the Dancing On Ice final after the serious leg injury which required hospital treatment. Ahead of the final, the former Olympian tore "all of his abs" while rehearsing for the show.
Once he was feeling better he told his social media following that he "effectively gave myself a C-section". Greg horrifically described the traumatic moment he tore his abs when trying to skate through the legs of professional skater Colin Grafton. And he has since been in recovery after undergoing surgery.
But now Greg's fiancé Susie Verrill, who he shares three children with, has been keeping his fans updated with his recovery progress. On Thursday, she took to Instagram to reveal that her partner was "laid up in bed." She wrote on her Story: "Since @gregrutherford is the one laid up in bed I have to do things like stand out in the rain and meet tradesmen with their deliveries. "Hadn't practised my talking-to-a-builder voice in a while so at least there's that." Earlier in the week, Greg shared a selfie of him heading outside for some sun amid his time at home following the injury.
He wrote: 'I'm up showered and have a T-shirt on for the first time since surgery. Progress!' The sports star also recently shared gruesome footage of the moment disaster hit just before the final of this year's series of Dancing on Ice, which forced him to withdraw from the ITV competition. In the video, Greg can be seen diving through a professional skater's legs, which is when things went very wrong.
